Configuring the Android Dev Phone 1 for ATT/Cingular
Friday, January 2nd, 2009
I received my Android Dev Phone 1 from Google today and am very excited at what I am seeing thus far. I have already done some dev for it and plan to keep the projects rocking that I have already started.
You will have to configure the Access Point Network (APN) for the Dev phone 1 if you would like to use it with a service outside of T-mobile, such as myself.
If you use ATT/Cingular I found these following settings by mirroring them from my windows mobile phone. You can leave all other fields blank while setting up your APN. Google provides a site that gives a listing, but there were many different listings for ATT/Cingular and this was the one that worked for me after failing with all the ones listed on their site.
Name: Cingular or ATT (just to recognize, does not affect settings)
APN: wap.cingular
Username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
Leave the rest of the fields blank, save the configuration, and you can keep moving on with syncing your phone.
